Mayor helps breaks ground on Lilyford’s latest development for the over-60s in Yateley

Lilyford has officially started construction on Gayton House, its latest over-60s residential development, with a groundbreaking ceremony attended by the Mayor of Yateley, Councillor Mark Griffin, Cllr Stuart Bailey, representatives of the Yateley Society and the company’s Managing Director, Maurice Ormerod.

The new development will feature 22 one- and two-bedroom apartments, designed to support independent living while fostering a vibrant community lifestyle. Prospective buyers will be able to reserve apartments off-plan later in 2025, with the first occupations expected early in 2026.

Mayor of Yateley, Mark Griffin, commented: “It was a pleasure to visit Gayton House, the site of Lilyford’s new development in Yateley. Projects like this not only provide high-quality homes for our older residents but also foster a sense of community and connection that is so vital to well-being in later life. I’m excited to see how this development will enhance the lives of its future homeowners and contribute to the vibrancy of our town.”

The development will include private parking, a shared living space for owners to socialise, landscaped gardens and secure entry systems with 24-hour emergency call points, providing safety and convenience. A dedicated House Manager will oversee daily operations, ensuring a worry free  living experience for homeowners.

Maurice Ormerod, Lilyford’s Managing Director, said:

“We were delighted to welcome our guests to mark the start of construction on our new development in Yateley. Lilyford is proud to build homes that allow people to make the most of their retirement years. Our ambition has always been to create stylish, future-proofed homes that redefine independent living later in life.”

The homes are thoughtfully crafted with light-filled, elegant interiors, complemented by features such as fast broadband, and communal social spaces with a coffee bar. Outside, landscaped areas inspired by the local setting will provide a peaceful retreat close to amenities such as shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants.

Alison Hewitt, Chair of the Yateley Society, added: “It’s lovely to finally see the start of building on this site in the town. We look forward to coming back when Gayton House is open.”

Gayton House builds on Lilyford’s reputation for excellence, established with its previous development, Dundee House in Midhurst, which won a coveted award at the What House? Awards for Best Retirement Development.
