Sussex Community Foundation is a fantastic charity which raises funds for and makes grants to local charities and community groups. Throughout East and West Sussex and down to Brighton and Hove, they also act as an essential link between inspirational groups and the donors who want to support them, as well as giving grants to thousands of local charities. Since 2006 they have raised over £40 million for Sussex communities and given grants of over £19 million. In addition they have built up a £22 million endowment which will help the people of Sussex for years to come.

Significant areas of Sussex are in the top 5% of the most deprived in the UK, and the Sussex Community Foundation are working to ensure that in the future this is not the case. Most grants go to groups tackling deprivation and disadvantage, but they also support a vast range of organizations from food banks to local sports teams. They work directly with donors and local leaders to ensure that communities are strong and resilient and make Sussex a better place to live for all.

The support they provide for those working to help homeless people, those in poverty, people suffering from serious illness or addiction, older people, children, victims of abuse and thousands more is essential and life changing. Their work has become even more important following the outbreak of coronavirus, as its impact has been felt by all corners of society. Unemployment, loneliness, mental health problems and poverty are among the many issues which have been exacerbated by the pandemic, and it has presented significant problems to fundraisers and charities at a time when they need support more than ever.
